The Shoreline Chamber of Commerce’s commitment to inclusion and ethical leadership is deeply rooted in acknowledging and addressing the lasting impact of systemic inequities, including redlining, racial restrictive covenants, and discrimination against LGBTQIA+ individuals within the City of Shoreline. Historically, these practices excluded marginalized groups from homeownership, economic opportunities, and community participation, creating disparities that persist today in housing, health outcomes, and wealth accumulation. Likewise, the LGBTQIA+ community has faced legal and social discrimination, from past criminalization to ongoing challenges surrounding equal rights and protections.
The City of Shoreline has taken meaningful steps toward equity, including the passage of Resolution No. 542 in 2025, reaffirming the City’s dedication to supporting individuals regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or gender expression. The Chamber enthusiastically supports these efforts.
As the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce moves forward, this policy serves as both a recognition of past injustices and a guiding framework for fostering diversity, inclusion, and ethical decision-making, ensuring that every member of our community has the opportunity to thrive.
The Shoreline Chamber of Commerce is committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and ethical business environment that reflects the diversity of our community.
