Marilla Sargent, President

Marilla settled in the Pacific Northwest after college and started her banking career with Great Western Savings. She took a break from the banking world from 1994 to 2000 to work for her husband's business, Sandi's Hallmark Shoppe, at the Lake Forest Park Towne Center. After they sold their business, Marilla went back into banking and began working for HomeStreet Bank in 2022 as the Banking Manager of the Moutlake Terrace Office.


Dr. Tim Norton, Past President


Dr. Tim Norton, Health Chiropractic and massage. Dr. Norton grew up in the Shoreline area before attending Life Chiropractic College West in California. In 1996, he graduated with highest honors – Summa Cum Laude. 

Suzan Shayler, Director


After earning degrees in Accounting and Finance from Seattle University, I worked for 20 years as an accountant in a variety of different industries before joining Edward Jones. I've lived in the Shoreline area since 1995, and my son, Brendon, graduated from Shorewood High School in 2014. A fun fact about us is we love soccer & the Sounders!




Paul Barrera, Director


Paul is the founding attorney of North City Law. Paul offers advice and representation in business, real property law, probate, and Trust and Estate Dispute Resolution Act (TEDRA) matters, as well as legal assistance preparing wills and trusts



Emily Sprong, Director


Emily Sprong is the Executive Director of Seattle Area Feline Rescue, based in Shoreline. Emily has decades of experience working & volunteering for, founding, and developing nonprofits. She loves working in animal welfare and appreciates how humans and pets enrich each other’s lives in a way that builds compassionate communities with empathy for all living things. She has worked in Shoreline for over 10 years and lived ‘Shoreline adjacent’ for over 20 with her family (human, canine, feline and serpentine).    



Jack Malek, Vice President

Jack Malek is a local Realtor in Shoreline and surrounding suburbs of Edmonds, Woodway and North Seattle for 17 years. He’s served 8 years on the Shoreline Planning Commission, 15 years on the Richmond Beach Community Association, 3 years on the Shoreline Council of Neighborhoods and a supporter of local Arts and Music. He’s originally a Physician's Assistant and Hospital Administrator from the southwest, he moved to Shoreline 21 years ago with his wife and son. 




Jennifer Underwood, Treasurer




Lauren Hadley, Secretary

Lauren Hadley has lived in Shoreline all of her life graduating from Shorewood High School. Professionally she has more than 20 years of experience in K-12 and higher education focusing on workforce training. She has been with Shoreline Community College since 2015 and currently serves as the Director of Workforce Education.

Jina Smith, Director


Jina is the Marketing Manager of Animal Medical Center of Seattle. Her extensive knowledge in operations and sales support combined with her experience as a veterinary technician make her uniquely qualified for her role, and she is always looking to learn more. She enjoys offering learning opportunities for the veterinary community and helping out with local animal shelters and non-profits. 



Joseph Irons, Director


President and General Manager of homegrown Irons Brothers Construction Joseph is a published author and accredited educator in Washington State. He plays an active role in the community volunteering his personal and company’s time to many local charities and organizations, including the annual Rampathon and Painting a Better Tomorrow events.
